Mayor - Vivian Cockburn

Hello, my name is Vivian Cockburn. I was elected on November 2, 2000 by the Town Council to fill the unexpired term of our former mayor. I was reelected in May 2001 and my current term will expire in May of 2003. My husband Dan and I moved to Ponder in 1972 and it has been our home ever since. Our four children graduated from Ponder High School; our two sons now make their homes here; and our grandsons attend Ponder schools. When we first moved to Ponder and enrolled our children in Ponder I.S.D., two classes shared one classroom.

Times have changed! My prior public service includes serving on the Planning and Zoning Board in the 1980's and currently. I hope to use my experience on the Board to help Ponder grow in an orderly fashion and to promote a planned system of growth. If you would like to share with me your thoughts, please e-mail me.
